Clarence Burgess Obituary

Clarence Burgess was born July 21, 1937 in Batesville, MS to Maetta Griffin and Royal Burgess, Clarence is the oldest of all his siblings. In 1962 Clarence moved to Chicago where he started working as a machine operator and which he did for most of his life. Clarence survived by fourteen children, seven girls and seven boys, Dianne and Nicole Burgess of South Holland, Kimba (Curley) Thornton, Teonna Tyner of Milwaukee, Valerie (Charles) Harper and Sherry Burgess of Zion, IL Bonnie Reeves of Batesville, MS, James (Debra) Fox of Gulf Port, MS, Clarence (Denise) Burgess Jr. And Bruce of South Holland, IL, Edward (Elizabeth) Burgess, Ben (Valeria) Burgess, Terry Williams of Milwaukee, WI, Bernard (Amber) Burgess of Sussex, WI, Jermaine Burgess of Grayslake, IL, and Reuben (Lanesha) Perry of Sacramento, CA; three sisiters, Bobbie Austin, Josie Burgess of Batesville, MS, and Mattie (Jessie) Cross of East St. Louis, IL, two brothers Joseph and Herman Benson of East St. Louis, IL; five cousins Roger, Shirley, JB, James and Ann all of Milwaukee, WI; 31 grandkids; and 20 great-grandkids; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. Clarence was preceded in death by his parents Maetta Benson and Royal; and step-parents, Wiley Benson and Blandenia Burgess; a sister, Roselee (Fred) Fox; five brothers, Dennis, Robert, Willie and Ormer Benson, and Royal Burgess Jr. A homegoing celebration will be held on Friday, September 25, 2020 at 12:00 p.m. at the Congdon Funeral Home. The visitation will begin one hour before the service.
