John Bascom Presnell, 76, of Port St. Joe was escorted to his eternal home on Monday, May 22, 2017 by his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. John was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. He was born in Sebring, FL to the late Bascom Louis and Jeanette Holiday Presnell. He spent many years serving the Lord in the First Baptist Church of Port St. Joe as a Deacon, working with the Baptist Disaster Relief Team, and mentoring with the Prison Ministry. He enjoyed traveling, hunting, fishing, flying, and camping in Cades Cove, TN. He shared tales about each adventure with such excitement and detail. He spent many years playing tennis with his dear friend, Temple Watson. John was preceded in death by his brother, Paul Presnell. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 52 years, Barbara J. Presnell; three sons, Keith (Cathy) Presnell, Mark Presnell and Shannon Presnell; daughter, Barbara Jean (BJ) Presnell; four grandchildren, Arcel Rico, Ashley (Ara) Johns, Wesley (Priscilla) Martin and Matthew Martin; six great grandchildren; brother, Owen (June) Presnell; sister-in-law, Doris Presnell; as well as several nieces, nephews, extended family, and special friend, Willie Giles Falcon. There are no words to describe the bond of love and friendship that he shared with Jim and Janice Porter. Family gatherings and making memories were always a special time to him. Funeral services will begin 3:00 P.M. (Eastern Time), Wednesday, May 24, 2017 at the First Baptist Church of Port St. Joe, 102 3rd St., Port St. Joe, FL 32456. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Honorary pallbearers will be the Messengers Sunday School Class of First Baptist Church.
