Carolyn Hope Hatt Coldbrook, Nova Scotia Obituary

Carolyn Hope Hatt

Carolyn Hope Hatt, affectionately known as Sookie, of Gold River, passed away peacefully on September 18th, 2020 at SSRH, surrounded by her family. She was the daughter of the late Ettie Kaizer and Parker Haley. During her 87 years with us, she accomplished many things. During her life, she held many different jobs. She worked at National Sea, Canada Post, along with delivering newspapers. She loved to tell the story about driving her car through snow storms, just to get to work. The weather didn’t keep her home. You could always find her with a set of crochet needles and a ball or 2 of yarn making her well loved baby blankets. Her blankets were so well loved that people would call to see if she had an extra blanket to sell. Although she accomplished many things during her life, her proudest accomplishment was her family. She was her family’s biggest cheerleader. Whenever there was a family gathering, you can bet she was making potato salad and her famous pineapple cheesecake. Carolyn is survived by her loving husband of 73 years, Wilfred, affectionately known as Wimp; children, Wilf Jr of British Columbia; Sheldon; Carol Sawler (Eugene); Karen Kaizer (Earlyn); all of Chester Grant; along with 14 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren; brothers, Shan (Sheila); Bubsy (Sylvie) and many nieces and nephews. Beside her parents, Carolyn is predeceased by sons, Ricky and Malc; granddaughters, Marcy and Cindy; brothers, Jim, Bob, Tine and Tubby; sister, Dorothy. Cremation has already taken place and Carolyn will be laid to rest during a private burial service. Carolyn’s family will have a reception to celebrate her life at 3:00pm on September 26Th, 2020 at the home of Carol and Eugene, 41 Rafuse Drive, Chester Grant.
