Obituary

It is with sadness the family of Ian Joseph Albert announce his passing on September 21, 2020 at Royal University Hospital at the age of 52 years.

Ian was born on January 3, 1968 in Rosetown, SK. He spent the first part of his life in Rosetown and later moved with his family to an acreage. He spent his talent and time restoring old farm machinery. If he couldn’t find something to restore, he would build it from scratch himself. When he wasn’t restoring antiques, he spent countless hours crafting his beloved Roughriders caricatures, signs, flags and helmets. He loved the outdoors, walking the hills looking for deer antlers. With his love of antiques, he had a dream of building a miniature General Store to display some of his antiques but his dream was cut short by ill health.

Ian was a big man, rather quiet by nature but could still talk up a storm. He had a great sense of humour and his sharp wit made us laugh with unexpected comments on life. He was a very hard worker and helped his parents build up an acreage from almost nothing to a very comfortable place for everyone. He was very organized, making and leaving notes and lists everywhere so he wouldn’t forget something or leave something out.

Ian fought an extremely hard and long battle after his second brain surgery. He was so brave, so strong and so courageous throughout his 14-month battle. He showed us the power of strength and perseverance. With his inspiration, we found the courage to let him go.

Ian is survived by his parents Anna and Rene, sister Teresa, brother Lee (Andrea), nephew Matthew as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. He was predeceased by his grandparents Katie and Joe Latsay, Birdie and Russell Albert and cousin Diane.

He was our best friend, work buddy and companion. We love and miss him so much.

Donations in memory of Ian may be made to the Children's Wish Foundation of Canada, Saskatchewan Chapter, 3602 Millar Avenue, P.O. Box 309, Saskatoon SK, S7K 3L3.
