Wayne "Link" Channing

WAYNE "LINK" CHANNING, 87 of Weirton, WV passed away Wednesday September 23, 2020 at Weirton Medical Center. He was born April 20, 1933 in Hollidays Cove, WV, the son of the late James Channing and Mildred Allen Channing Cline. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Myrna Jeannette Buck Channing (2020); sisters, June Bradley, Virginia Warnock; brothers, Blaine Channing, Paul Channing. Wayne was a member of Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church; a United States Army veteran/Korean War; American Legion Post No.10; 25 year club of Weirton Steel Company; NRA and AARP member. He retired with 38 years of service from Weirton Steel Corp. in the galvanizing dept. of the sheet mill. Surviving are his daughter, Sharon Stevens of Weirton, WV; son, Richard Channing of Buckeye Lake, OH; sister, Kathryn Michelle (Tom); brothers, James Channing (Alice), Donald Channing (Patricia) all of Weirton, WV; grandchildren, Jason Stevens, Amanda Stevens, Ashley Channing; great grandchildren, Cody Stevens, Dawson Lopushansky, Makalya Lopushansky, Kaitlyn Freeman, Tugs Freeman, Decario Massey. Visitation will be 2:00-4:00 & 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Monday September 28, 2020 at STEEL & WOLFE FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, INC., 380 Penco Road, Weirton, WV, where the funeral will be held Tuesday at 11:00 with Pastor Carol McKay presiding. Military funeral honors will be rendered by WV Honor Guard and American Legion Post No. 10. Interment to follow at Chestnut Ridge Cemetery, Florence, PA. www.steelandwolfe.com
