Ferral was born in Cleveland, Utah on December 30, 1935 to Letha Elvina Winder Swink and Fred Swink. Ferral met his future wife, Suellen (Sue) Powell, at Carbon High School in Price, Utah, where he lettered in varsity football, basketball and wrestling. However, missionary service for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the Southern States Mission, U.S. military service in Germany, and studies at the University of Utah would delay marriage until their elopement to Evanston, Wyoming on July 29, 1963. Their marriage was solemnized in the Manti Temple on May 23, 1964. Ferral and Sue raised their eight children in Sandy, Utah, where Ferral was an active member of the community and LDS Church. He wholeheartedly served as a BSA Scout Master, Bishopric Counselor, High Counselor, and Home Teacher in the local wards and stakes. Ferral was active in grass roots politics, serving as a state delegate and campaigning on behalf of others. An auto enthusiast, Ferral worked in the automotive industry for over 30 years, while collecting and restoring classic cars in his spare time. As a skilled mechanic, woodcrafter and upholsterer, he would often help neighbors and friends with their cars and other projects. Ferral and Sue also worked together to restore antique furniture, much of which graced their home. Ferral is survived by his beloved wife, Suellen Powell Swink and their children: Jared Swink, Torey Swink, James (Keri) Swink, Samuel Swink, Rebecca (Chris) Duke, Debra (Jason) Low, Eric (Marieke) Swink, Philip (Nichole) Swink, and 20 grandchildren. A funeral service will be held Monday, September 28, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at the Peruvian Park Ward Chapel (1500 E 8600 S, Sandy, UT). A viewing will be held at the same location on Sunday, September 27, 2020, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and beginning one hour before the funeral on Monday. Ferral will be laid to rest at Spanish Fork City Cemetery (420 S 400 E, Spanish Fork, UT 84660) after the funeral service.
