Norma A. Cassio, 83, passed away on Thursday, September 24, 2020 with her family by her side at home. Born and raised in Pittston, PA., Mrs. Cassio resided in Summit and Kenilworth before settling to South Plainfield along with her late husband Ralph. As a longtime resident of the Borough of South Plainfield, Mrs. Cassio was active and supportive of her community. She was communicant of Sacred Heart RC Church, a member of the Senior Citizens and a former member of the former Jayceettes. Norma was also an avid fan of the high school wrestling team as well as Rutgers University wrestling team. In addition, Mrs. Cassio enjoyed playing the slot machines from time to time down in Atlantic City, but she truly valued the time she spent with all of her family. Predeceased by her husband Ralph, Mrs. Cassio is survived by her daughters; Sandra Cassio (James Patti), Susan Ashnault (William) all of South Plainfield and Sabrina Cornacchio (Corey) of Denver, NC; sister in-law, Rita Mecadon of Pittston, PA; brother in-law, Thomas Cassio (Jeanie) of South Plainfield; grandchildren, Guy Severini, Gina Vohden (Robert), Billy Ashnault (Jessica), Carly Ashnault (Ryan Hutchison), Anthony Ashnault (Valerie LaPorta) and Brielle Cornacchio and great grandchildren, Chase Severini, Robert and Charles Vohden and Micah Ashnault. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews and loving extended relatives and dear friends. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral mass on Saturday, September 26, 2020 at 10:15am at Sacred Heart RC Church, South Plainfield. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery, Scotch Plains.
