Obituary
Heaven has welcomed home another special angel.
Glendell North Speirs passed away September 23, 2020 at the age of 90, in her home surrounded by her loved ones. Glendell was born and raised February 15, 1930 in Heber City, Utah. She was the fifth child of nine children born to Glen Wayne and Irene Morris North.
Glendell met Leo Rolfe Speirs in 1946. After much persistence, he convinced her to marry him. They were married June 14, 1948 in Heber City, Utah. They were later sealed in the Salt Lake City Temple. Leo's work had them living in Logan and Salt Lake City, until one of his jobs transferred the family to Vernal. While living in Salt Lake, she took in ironing and sewing to help with finances. In Vernal, she worked in the school lunch program from 1973-1998 retiring as the cafeteria manager of Ashley Elementary.
Glendell sewed, crocheted and knitted beautiful things until her arthritis wouldn't allow her fingers to handle the delicate work. She loved setting on her patio watching the hummingbirds enjoy her flowers as much as she did. She continued doing yard work until it got to be too much for her to do, but she supervised Carolyn making sure it got done her way.
One of the grandsons couldn't pronounce her name when he was little, so it got shortened to Grandma G for all of them. She had a "special drawer" full of goodies for the grandchildren and great grandchildren. After giving her a hug they would ask if they could get a treat from the drawer. She loved being with her family and friends. She and her girlfriends would meet a few days a week to catch up with each other.
Glendell is survived by her daughter Carolyn, son Earl (Barbara) Speirs. Grandsons Casey (Jocelyn) Speirs, Daryl (Stephanie) Speirs, and Marccus Durbin. Great grandchildren Brooklyn, Bailey, Weston and Everley Speirs. Sisters Erva Roberts and LuAnn Singleton.
She is proceeded in death by her husband Leo. Her siblings and their spouses, Gladys and Tommy Farrer, Evelyn and Clyde Rollins, Dora and Max McAfee, Darrell and Barbara North, Kay and Clarence Welch, Glen North, Glen Roberts. Leo's sister Jackie and Don Clayburn. Son-in-law Michael Durbin.
