James Mart "Jimmie" Collins

Mr. James Mart “Jimmie” Collins, age 81, of Olive Hill, Kentucky, went home to be with the Lord, Thursday morning, September 24, 2020, at St. Claire Healthcare in Morehead, Kentucky, surrounded by his loving family. He was born October 27, 1938, in Carter County, Kentucky, a son of the late Claude and Ruby Ingles Collins. Jimmie was a member of the Mills Branch Apostolic Church in Olive Hill, Kentucky. He loved serving the Lord, working around the church and witnessing for the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. His favorite saying was, “Hallelujah” to everyone he talked to. Jimmie enjoyed mowing and selling peanut brittle for the church. He was a good salesman and was known as the “Candy Man” in the Mt. Sterling area. Jimmie was family-oriented, and loved his wife Martha to the fullest. Jimmie and Martha shared a happy life together, raising their children and just being with one another. Jimmie loved having company, telling stories and spending time with his children and grandchildren. He retired from A.O. Smith in Mt. Sterling, Kentucky, as a press operator for 30 years, where he served as a Union President upon his retirement. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Linda Lou Tackett, and one sister-in-law, Mary Bryant. Jimmie is survived by his wife of 60 years, Martha Bryant Collins; two sons and daughters-in-law, Steven Collins and Tammy of Mt. Sterling, Kentucky, and Tim and Myrt Collins of Olive Hill, Kentucky; one daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and David Kiser of Olive Hill, Kentucky; 13 grandchildren, Rebecca McClanahan (Master Sergeant Jason McClanahan), 1st Lieutenant Steven Benjamin Collins (Sherry), Vanessa Collins, Austin Collins (Sara), Bethany Collins, Becky Collins, Robert Collins, Courtney Collins, Debra Dennis (Macgyver), Karen Hughes (Tim), Cody Kiser (Cheyenne), Brittany Kiser and Nathan Kiser; 17 great grandchildren, Alexander McClanahan, Jillian McClanahan, Ava McClanahan, Carolina Collins, Claire Collins, Catherine Collins, Kaden Collins, Taylor Collins, Isaac Collins, Malorie Collins, Haley Dennis, Kaitlyn Dennis, Hannah Hughes, Levi Hughes, Noah Hughes, Nevaeh Kiser, and Ava Kiser; one sister, Iris Jean Arnold of Mansfield, Ohio; and one brother-in-law, Wilbert and Teddy Stocker of Texas. He also leaves many other family members, church family and friends who will sadly miss him. A Going Home Celebration will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, September 29, 2020, at Mills Branch Apostolic Church, 376 Mills Branch in Olive Hill, Kentucky, with Pastor Larry Joe Ruley and Jimmie’s son-in-law, Brother David Kiser officiating. Interment will follow in the Olive Hill Memorial Park in Olive Hill, Kentucky. Friends may visit from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday, September 28, 2020, and after 9 a.m. on Tuesday, at Mills Branch Apostolic Church, 376 Mills Branch, Olive Hill, Kentucky 41164. Macgyver Dennis, 1st Lieutenant Steven Benjamin Collins, Austin Collins, Cody Kiser, Tim Hughes, and Master Sergeant Jason McClanahan will serve as pallbearers. Jeremy Tackett, Terry Tackett, Rob Tackett, Derrick Tackett and Terry Horsley will serve as honorary pallbearers. Due to COVID-19 regulations, we ask that everyone wear a mask and practice social distancing.
