Bishop Calvin Overstreet, 66, passed away Thursday, September 23, 2020 at Novant Health Rowan Medical Center. Born January 5, 1954 in Brunswick County, Ga., he was the son of the late Willie Sr. and Beulah Kight Overstreet. He was educated in the public schools of Georgia. Bishop Overstreet retired from the City of Salisbury in the sanitation department. As a member of Holy Tabernacle of Jesus Christ in Salisbury, he served as Bishop and Pastor for 34 years. He was also the church landscaper and former treasurer. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Jerome Overstreet. Left to cherish his memories include his wife of 38 years, Pastor Priscilla Hipps Overstreet of the home; children, Samantha Overstreet of the home, Samuel Overstreet (Jalisa), and Melinda Hipps both of Salisbury; brothers, Willie Overstreet, Jr. (Shirley), Richard Overstreet (Brenda) both of St. Mary’s, Ga and Karl Overstreet (Chinet) of Jacksonville, FL.; sister, Cynthia Overstreet of St. Mary’s, Ga.; six grandchildren; six great grandchildren; a niece reared in the home, Betty Everhart of Mooresville; other relatives and friends.
