Autumn Bernice Jacob Marietta, Georgia Obituary

Autumn Bernice Jacob

On September 21, 2020, Autumn Bernice Smith Jacob, passed away peacefully, at home, age 67, after a long bout with an illness. Autumn was born in Battle Creek, Michigan to George Henry Smith and Dorothy Armstead Smith. Michigan was where all of Autumn’s Family grew in deep appreciation for Jehovah God, His Organization and his creations. At seven years old, Autumn and her family moved to Brooklyn, New York. Because she was no longer in Michigan, Autumn missed playing with rabbits, turtles, bugs and seeing many beautiful sunsets. She and her siblings sorely missed Michigan; however, Autumn was still able to marvel at all of Jehovah’s works while being in a big, bustling city. Autumn attended and graduated from Prospect Heights High School. She was married to Sedgerick Jacob and had two sons, Sedgerick Jacob Jr. and Joshua Jacob. Autumn retired from New York Transit Authority as a Train Conductor. As you can imagine, every day was an interesting experience for Autumn while dealing with the public. Due to her patient and pleasant demeanor, Autumn was able to excel and do a great job at being able to peacefully work with people of different backgrounds. Why did Autumn love Michigan and Georgia so much? Autumn fell in love with Michigan and Georgia because both states reminded her of paradise that Jehovah has promised and because of the nice fall foliage that mesmerizes everyone. In the spring, the nice plush greenery and trees were always a sight that amazed Autumn. How would Autumn and her Family come to know about Jehovah? Autumn’s Grandmother studied the Bible with Jehovah’s Witnesses, before her premature death and introduced her parents to the Truth. Thankfully, Autumn’s parents were invited to sit in on a Bible study and, it was then that they heard the ring of truth and they knew this was IT! The Bible made a deep and lasting impression on Autumn and her Family. Years later, on July 4, 2015, Autumn was baptized, publicly dedicating her life to serve Jehovah God and preach to others about his promises (Isaiah 11: 6-9). Autumn fondly treasured going to assemblies with her two sisters at the Queen's Assembly Hall and in Georgia at the Conyers Assembly Hall with all her spiritual brothers and sisters. Autumn spoke about her love for Jehovah and his marvelous creations every chance she got, even with her nurses and doctors up until her death. Her faith in Jehovah’s promises outlined in the Bible is what fortified Autumn to press forward, remain resolute, even despite her declining health over the past years. Autumn had a good sense of humor, was always generous and loved spending time with her family when she could. Autumn and her sister, Debi, were famous for their backyard cookouts. Her family never forget those gatherings and will always be able to talk about these good times. Autumn is preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Dawn Marie Smith and Debra Belle. She is survived by her two affectionate sons, Sedgerick and Joshua, her dear siblings: Michael Lynn, Ann Smith Stephens, George Smith Jr., Darryl Smith (Rasheda), Augustus Smith, Brother-in-law Julius Belle (Debra). Also, she will be deeply missed by her loving grandchildren, Joshua Jacob Jr. and Yoslynn Autumn Jacob. Her memory will be remembered and endeared by many beloved nieces, nephews, her good friend Carolyn (Cookie) Frontis) and a myriad of spiritual brothers, spiritual sisters, family and friends. We all will treasure and keep her in our hearts. The family would like to sincerely thank everyone for their love, prayers, comfort, compassion, support and condolences.
