Devetta Manuel

Devetta Ann Manuel It is with heavy hearts and great sadness we announce the passing of Devetta Ann Manuel at age 65. Devetta passed away peacefully September 18, 2020 at home surround by family and close friends. Born in Halifax, she was a daughter of the late James Burke and Mazie Burke (Ryder). Mom is survived by her loving husband, George married 49 years; daughter, Tanya (Mark); son, Georgie (Jen); grandchildren, Camryn, Carrington; and great grandchild; Naomi; step-father, Kenny Ryder (Maude); sisters, Denise (Roger); Bonnie (Charlie); Tina (Stephen); Lynn (Steve); brothers, Jimmy (Dawn); Kenny a.k.a. Bud (Kim) and a very large close extended family of brother and sister-in-laws, nieces and nephews. Mom was a very loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. After taking care of her family at an early age, Mom went back to school to complete the Accounting/Bookkeeping program at Compu College and went to work in that field for the remainder of her working days. Mom had many talents and hobbies such as painting, tole painting, sewing, knitting, and crocheting. Any art and craft she tackled was with full force and determination. She loved the gym, beaching, travelling, and making and drinking wine with her family and friends. Most important to Mom was spending quality time with her family at the home she and George so proudly and lovingly built together. Nanny and Grampy time was very special to her. To say Mom's laugh was unique is an understatement. Anyone that heard that laugh knew Mom had arrived and you soon would be infected by it. She had a smile that lite up the room. She had a beautiful singing voice that she shared with her hubby George as they sang and played ALOT of music together over the years. She was feisty, full of life and so much fun. Mom fought her battle with cancer with extreme courage, strength, bravery, and with great dignity. She will be forever missed by all her family and friends. Mom will never be forgotten. Cheers Mom to your life and to those you have touched. We will see you on the moon! xo Many thanks to Dr. Shauna Herman, GP and friend, Lunenburg Palliative Care Team, Dr. Debra Gowan and Melanie Spence, RN and VON team for all your ongoing caring, compassion and support during Mom's illness. Special thanks to BFFs Sue and Wayne for always being there in every which way day or night for our family. There will be no service as per Mom's wishes.
