Mayrene “Mae” Hamilton, age 91, of Rocky Road in Pikeville, KY., passed from this life, Wednesday, September 23, 2020. Mae was born November 14, 1928, in Pikeville, KY., to the late George and Vernie Chaney. Besides both parents, Mae is preceded in death by her husband, Tennis Hamilton and a host of siblings. Mae is survived by her devoted children, Darlene Atkinson and her spouse, Kenneth, Ronnie Dale Hamilton and Bellaritha; grandchildren, Kaitlyn Nelson and her spouse, Chase, Brandon Hamilton and his spouse, Tylia; step grandson, Jordan Atkinson; great grandchildren, Kourtlyn Nelson and Bentley Hamilton; sister, Melva Slone and her husband, Herbert. Mae was loved by everyone she met. She never met a stranger at her many years working at various grocery stores. Mae was a store clerk at McCowns, Hopkins, and Elliots Grocery store. Through her job she fed many mouths while changing many lives. The family will accept friends at Thacker Memorial Funeral Home Friday, September 25, 2020, from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM. Funeral services for Mae will be Saturday, September 26, 2020 beginning at 1:00 PM. Burial will follow at Annie E. Young Cemetery in Pikeville. KY. Billy Compton will officiate services for Mae.
