Earl Smith Obituary

Earl Smith, 73, of Gray, passed away on Wednesday, September 23, 2020, at UK Medical Center in Lexington. Born in Clay County, KY, Earl was the son of the late Arthur and Mary Steward Smith. He had been an assembly line worker for Ford Motor Co. and was a member of New Vision Pentecostal Church. He loved to hunt and fish, and had raced at Corbin Speedway. In addition to his parents, Earl was preceded in death by brothers Don Smith and Herman Smith; son Jason Henson; and grandson Little Billy Smith. He is survived by his wife Nellie Darlene Smith; children Tina Smith, Tonya Smith, Ted Smallwood, Earl Henson, Crystal Henson, and Billy Smith; grandchildren Justin Smith, Amanda Carter, De'onna Simmons, Paige Smith, Jasmine Smith, Josh Broughton, Leah McCulley, Mason McCulley, Savannah Smith, Kenneth Smith, Malachi Smith, Benjamin Smith, Dakota Henson, Shawn Henson, Jacob Henson, Emma Henson, Jayden Henson, Hunter Henson, Cameron Henson and McKenzie Henson; great-grandchild Paisley Elliott; siblings Earnest Smith, Nadine Smith, Martha Reeves, Esslan Smith, and Willie Smith; half-sister, Loretta Mills; and half-brother, Billy Smallwood. Funeral service will be held at 4:00 pm on Saturday, September 26, at the New Vision Pentecostal Church with Rev. Kenny Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are Joe Wilson, Affan Afzail, Ted Smallwood, Johnny Elliott, Austin McDonald, Billy Smith, and Daniel Smith. The family will receive friends from 3:00-7:00 pm Friday, September 25, and 2:00-4:00 pm Saturday at New Vision Pentecostal Church.
