<p>Former&nbsp;resident of Columbia,&nbsp;South Carolina&nbsp;and&nbsp;Parkersburg,&nbsp;West&nbsp;Virginia&nbsp;Alan Johnson&nbsp;Rodger,&nbsp;79, died&nbsp;peacefully on&nbsp;09/23/2020&nbsp;at his home in&nbsp;Columbia, South Carolina&nbsp;after a struggle with cancer.&nbsp;</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>The family will be holding a&nbsp;quiet and&nbsp;private family remembrance at Kornegay and Moseley&nbsp;in&nbsp;Columbia, SC.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>Mr. Rodger&nbsp;was born&nbsp;October 2nd&nbsp;1940, in&nbsp;Montreal, Quebec., to&nbsp;AlanAnderson&nbsp;and Lorraine Rodger.&nbsp;</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>Mr.&nbsp;Rodger&nbsp;served in the&nbsp;Royal Canadian&nbsp;Air Force&nbsp;as a flight navigator from&nbsp;1962-1968.&nbsp;He&nbsp;attended college at the&nbsp;Royal Military College of Canada&nbsp;(RMC)&nbsp;in Kingston Ontario&nbsp;and College Military Royal (CMR)&nbsp;in Quebec&nbsp;where he met and&nbsp;later&nbsp;married Lois&nbsp;Isabella&nbsp;Rochford&nbsp;in 1962 after graduation from The Royal Military College in Kingston, Ontario. During that time, he also taught Chemical Engineering at his alma mater.&nbsp;After receiving his Doctorate in Chemical Engineering&nbsp;from Queen&rsquo;s University in Kingston&nbsp;they moved to the United States with their four children in&nbsp;1969 after being hired by DuPont&nbsp;Chemical.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>He retired from&nbsp;DuPont as their U.S. Project Engineer.&nbsp;He spent&nbsp;several of his retirement years&nbsp;volunteering for &ldquo;Friends of the Library&rdquo; &ndash; Richland County and his local&nbsp;Homeowners&nbsp;Association Ponds Committee.&nbsp;&nbsp;He enjoyed reading, building&nbsp;&ldquo;world largest&nbsp;puzzles&rdquo;&nbsp;and playing Cribbage tournaments with his family.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>Mr.&nbsp;Rodger&nbsp;is survived by his wife&nbsp;Lois and&nbsp;his sons Alan&nbsp;Michael Rodger, Barry Drew Rodger,&nbsp;his daughters&nbsp;Pamela&nbsp;Lois Rodger Williams,&nbsp;Peggy Anne Dortch,&nbsp;8 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>Condolences&nbsp;and memory stories&nbsp;may be sent www.kornegayandmoseley.com</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>&nbsp;</p>

Former resident of Columbia, South Carolina and Parkersburg, West Virginia Alan Johnson Rodger, 79, died peacefully on 09/23/2020 at his home in Columbia, South Carolina after a struggle with cancer. 

 

The family will be holding a quiet and private family remembrance at Kornegay and Moseley in Columbia, SC.

 

Mr. Rodger was born October 2nd 1940, in Montreal, Quebec., to AlanAnderson and Lorraine Rodger. 

 

Mr. Rodger served in the Royal Canadian Air Force as a flight navigator from 1962-1968. He attended college at the Royal Military College of Canada (RMC) in Kingston Ontario and College Military Royal (CMR) in Quebec where he met and later married Lois Isabella Rochford in 1962 after graduation from The Royal Military College in Kingston, Ontario. During that time, he also taught Chemical Engineering at his alma mater. After receiving his Doctorate in Chemical Engineering from Queen’s University in Kingston they moved to the United States with their four children in 1969 after being hired by DuPont Chemical.

 

He retired from DuPont as their U.S. Project Engineer. He spent several of his retirement years volunteering for “Friends of the Library” – Richland County and his local Homeowners Association Ponds Committee.  He enjoyed reading, building “world largest puzzles” and playing Cribbage tournaments with his family.

 

Mr. Rodger is survived by his wife Lois and his sons Alan Michael Rodger, Barry Drew Rodger, his daughters Pamela Lois Rodger Williams, Peggy Anne Dortch, 8 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
