Duane attended school in the Glen Ullin area. On October 29, 1977, Duane married the love of his life, Charlotte Doll. The couple was inseparable until the time of Charlotte’s death. They never spent a moment apart. Duane worked on the Filibeck Farm for many years. He was a farmer at heart from a very young age. Working with the soil, planting seeds and harvesting crops were his love and a lifetime of anticipation and rewards. Duane loved visiting with people. He had a passion for music and learned to play the piano, organ, accordion and harmonica by ear. His cousins remember him playing and singing “You Are My Sunshine.” A good game of Canasta with his family always brought joy to him. Duane was always ready to meet you with a smile on his face and a big hug. He will be remembered for always having a twinkle in his eye and for his concern for others over himself. Duane is survived by his brother; Wilbert (Shorty) Duppong; sister-in-law, Shirley (Duppong) Reinhardt; nieces, Carrie Schirado, Mary (Jerry) (Winckler) Beierlein, Tammy Olson; nephews, Lorne (Shelly) Duppong, Randy (Jesse) Duppong; numerous great nieces and nephews; and one great-great niece.
