<p>It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, Donna Anne Schafer, of Fort St. John, BC, on September 17, 2020 at the age of 80.</p> <p>Mom was born on November 10, 1939 to Henry and Elizabeth Embree in Carbon, Alberta.&nbsp; She was the first born of four children, all girls. (Donna, Wanda, Trudy and Diane). In September of 1958, Donna married Joseph Wilfred Schafer and they had 5 children, all boys. Guy who moved to the USA in 1986, Carey who lives in Langley, BC, Curtis who lives in Fort St. John, BC, and the twin boys, Regan who lives in Victoria, BC and Lindsay who lives in Baldonnel, BC. Between the 5 boys and their families they gave Donna 16 grandchildren, 8 granddaughter&rsquo;s and 8 grandsons and one great granddaughter born in April of 2020.</p> <p>Donna was an accomplished piano player and taught many young aspiring piano players over the 50 years as a piano teacher in Fort St. John. She played the piano and organ at the St. Lukes United Church for many years and was honoured by the church a few years ago for her service. Donna loved to play the piano including playing for many special occasions.</p> <p>Donna had many wonderful friends in Fort St. John and was rarely seen without a smile on her face! Though she struggled with her Parkinson&#39;s in her latter years she never let it keep her down, always moving forward with a positive effort.</p> <p>Donna was predeceased by her sister Wanda, her mother Elizabeth and her father Henry. She in survived by her sons, Guy, Carey (Bianca), Curtis (Dwilla), Regan (Leona), Lindsay (Kathy) and their wonderful families. Cayla (Chris) with Stevie Grace Donna&rsquo;s great granddaughter, Samuel, Victoria, David, Rebecca, Jesse, Reilly, Colby, Shayna, Nikki (Chance) Jaden, Dalene, Ellery, Conlan, Brandon and Michael.&nbsp;</p> <p>A special thank you to the staff and Doctors of the Fort St. John Hospital for their support and kindness.&nbsp;</p> <p>In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice.&nbsp; &nbsp;</p> <p>We will miss you Mom!</p> <p>We love you, The Boys&nbsp;</p> <p>&nbsp;</p>

I will remember her love of music. She has left a legacy of music though her own piano playing and all the students she taught. i am thankful I could be one of them.  Condolences to the family.
