Clara Ottilia Mynhier

CUMBERLAND – Clara O. Mynhier, 91, of Cumberland, passed away Tuesday, September 22, 2020, at her daughter’s residence with her faithful Shih Tzu companion, Lily, who never left her side all during her illness. Born September 4, 1929, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late Karl C. and Edna (Thomas) Will. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, James B. “Jim” Long; second husband, Robert G. Mynhier; son-in-law, Larry Wigfield; infant grandson; sister, Helen (Will) Kamp. Clara graduated from Allegany High School with her childhood sweetheart, Jim Long. She went on to work at Cut Rate and then retired from Super Shoe after 40 years of service. Clara and her daughter loved their monthly luncheons with her Red Hat Diva Darling sisters. Dinner and parties with the Never Too Late Girls dancing group were a special part of Clara and Gail’s lives as well. She also very much loved her long-time friends and neighbors on Florida Avenue in Cresaptown before she went to stay with her daughter. All of Clara’s friends were special to her. Clara leaves behind her daughter and best friend, Gail Wigfield; nephew, David Urbas and wife, Kathy; numerous other nieces and nephews; step-grandsons, Mike and Jeff; two granddogs, Gracie and Joey, who adored her just as much as she did them. The family would like to thank all of the friends and neighbors who visited Clara throughout her illness. They would also like to thank special friend and caregiver, Peggy Blume; Sheila and the other hospice nurses who provided amazing care to Clara; and her physical therapist, Jane, with whom Clara enjoyed spending time with in the sun on the back porch. Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 15205 McMullen Hwy SW, Cresaptown, MD, on Sunday, September 27, 2020, from 2 to 3 pm.
