Annechiena "Ann" Sjoukina van Loon

Annechiena Sjoukina van Loon, 86, peacefully passed away on September 21, 2020 and is now with the Lord. She was born in Vriezenveen, Holland on March 21, 1934 to Gerhardus Super and Aaltje Moorlag-Super.  Ann graduated from MULO Secretary School and worked in Holland until 1958. She immigrated to Alberta, Canada to get married to Gerrit van Loon, who moved from Holland one year prior to start earning money to buy a farm. They then moved to Modesto, California in 1963 where Gerrit milked for several years before becoming a partner in a Cash & Carry store in Redding, California. In 1970, they moved to Jefferson, Oregon where they bought their own dairy farm.    Ann worked hard alongside her husband on the dairy as a supportive and loving wife. In 1996 they retired and moved to Salem, Oregon. Her son Kryn, and grandsons, Ben and Jeremy, now manage the dairy. It meant a lot to both Gerrit and Ann to keep the farm they started in the family.  Ann enjoyed 59 years of marriage to Gerrit.   They were blessed with good health that allowed them to spend time with family in Holland and enjoy many trips and activities with their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  Many remember Ann for her good cooking and baking, especially her stroopwafels.  It was not uncommon for her to make pies for her neighbors.  She also spent a lot of time doing embroidery, knitting socks/hats for the mission field, and flower gardening.  Ann was a member of Immanuel's Reformed Church. She loved the title of 'Oma' which many people called her, even at Keizer Ridge Memory Unit where she resided until she passed.    Ann is survived by her son Kryn (Irene) van Loon of Jefferson, OR; her daughter Alice Steffen of Turner, OR; her daughter Lisa (Don) Switzer of Salem, OR; her sister Gezien(Hank) Koskamp of the Netherlands; 5 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.  A service will be held October 10, 2020 at 11:00 AM, at Immanuel's Reformed Church, 4653 Sunnyview Road NE, Salem, Oregon 97305.  The service can also be found on Facebook- Funeral Service for Ann van Loon.   Memorial donations may be made to the Salem Union Gospel Mission at ugmsalem.org.
