Dorothea Graf, 91, of Ackley, passed away on Wednesday, September 23, 2020 at Grand JiVante in Ackley. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 26, 2020 at Cornerstone Presbyterian Church in Ackley with burial in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be an hour before the service at the church. Memorials may be given to Care Initiatives Hospice or the Cornerstone Presbyterian Church in Ackley in Dorothea’s honor. Funeral arrangements are under the guidance of the Sietsema Funeral Home in Ackley. Dorothea was born on March 19, 1929 in Ackley, Iowa to Henry and Johanna (Enslin) Sessler. She graduated from Ackley High School in 1949. On June 2, 1954, Dorothea was united in marriage to John Mesko. John passed away in 1974 and Dorothea later married Palmer Graf who passed away in 1993. Dorothea was an excellent secretary, seamstress, baker and homemaker. She enjoyed reading and often passed along outstanding titles to her children. She loved taking care of her beautiful farm, built in 1920 by her father. Dorothea loved Jesus and was eagerly looking forward to seeing him. Praising God for the blessed HOPE that is ours because of the resurrection of Jesus Christ. He said in John 11:25, “I am the resurrection and the life. Anyone who believes in me will live, even though they die.“ Dorothea is survived by her children J. Wesley (Kathy) Mesko of Mason, MI, Janice (Ken) Dudley of Grand Haven, MI and Susan (Frank) King of Lenexa, KS, 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands John Mesko and Palmer Graf and her brother Herman Sessler.
