Jerry Lee Thurman Obituary

Jerry Thurman was born in Anadarko, Oklahoma in July 14, 1942 and entered heaven’s gate peacefully on September 22, 2020 at his home in Arkansas City, Kansas. He was holding the hands of his wife and Lori. A memorial service has been scheduled for 2:00pm Friday, September 25, 2020, at Central Christian Church in Arkansas City, Kansas. Burial will follow in the Riverview Cemetery of Arkansas City. Those coming to the service are requested to follow all COVID 19 mandates including social distancing and the wearing of a mask. Those attending are also invited to wear their OSU attire as well. He was married to Kathy Sweely of Arkansas City, Kansas, in 2003. He was survived also by his children: Lana Beth and husband Mike Fitts of Duncan, Oklahoma, Letha Bauter of Stillwater, Oklahoma, Lori Moulton and husband Marty of Arkansas City and Son Lee Thurman from Stillwater Oklahoma. Grandchildren: Delia Gietzen, Jade Weddle, Landes Bauter, Rhett Thurman, Andee Beth Fitts, Abbi Mouton, Daigen Moulton, Lincoln Fitts, Hayden Bauter, Billee Thurman. Great Grandchild: Daxon Weddle. Other survivors include his sister Nellie Edwards, Anadarko, OK, sister in-law Barbara Sweely Burk, Arkansas City, Kansas, many nieces and nephews and his most loved cat Lexi. Proceeded in death by his mother Delia, father Lee Henderson Thurman, one sister Jessie Jeffries and brother, Leo Thurman. Jerry carried out many roles in life: son, husband, dad, brother, farmer, teacher, cook, restaurant - “Mr. Burger” owner and salesman. Whatever the role he made the best of it. He was known for his loving ornery spirit, his ability to talk with anyone, and his love for his alma mater Oklahoma State University. Jerry graduated from Anadarko High School in 1960 and Oklahoma State University in 1964. He was a member of the OSU Alumni Association, FFA, and New Life Fellowship Church. Memorial contributions can be made to Good Shepard Hospice of Wellington, Kansas, Cowley County Humane Society and Oklahoma Future Farmers of America (FFA). Contributions may be made through the funeral home. Arrangements are being made through the Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home and Crematory of Arkansas City.
