Kelly Shook

Kelly Charles Shook June 29, 1960-September 6, 2020 age 60 Kelly Shook passed away at Royal University Hospital, Saskatoon with family at his bedside. He will be remembered for his gentle smile and generosity, his love of family and his pride in restoring pickup trucks. Kelly was born in Swift Current Saskatchewan in 1960. His early years were on the farm near Wymark with parents Alan and Noreen Shook and older siblings Terry, Barry and Cathy. Kelly particularly enjoyed horses and would ride his Palomino to the Woods farm to spend time with Robert. Family life was busy. The Shooks were active with the Saskatchewan Flying farmers and travelled extensively with their plane. Kelly took away from this time a love of the prairies, particularly flying above it, a sense of adventure and caring for family and friends. Kelly started his working years as a farmer. He trained as a mechanic in Moose Jaw and Shaunavon. Work also brought him to Yellowknife and the rigs in Alberta. He could put his hand to anything. Kelly returned to Swift Current when his battle with mental health reached a crisis. The family wish to acknowledge the care provided by the Swift Current Mental Health Care team over the following decades. Swift Current was a safe haven due the kindness of his extended family and the community members who supported him. Despite life’s challenges Kelly’s kindness and humanity shone through to the end. Kelly will be dearly remembered by his siblings Terry, Barry (Penny), Cathy (Pat), nephews/niece- Ian, Connor, Chris, Chad, Myra, Kelsey, Clayton and their children. Kelly is predeceased by his parents Alan and Noreen Shook. A video linked service will be held for Kelly on October 3, 2020 in Swift Current. Binkley’s Funeral Service of Shaunavon (www.Binkleys.com) is in charge of the arrangements. His ashes will be laid to rest on the Shook homestead.
