Freddy Vasquez Obituary

Freddy Vasquez was born February 28, 1962, in Lepanto, Arkansas, to Conrado and Estefana (Salazar) Vasquez. When Freddy was just a baby, his family moved to Salem, Oregon, where he attended most of his grade school before the family moved again settling in the Valsetz area. After 9th grade, Freddy left school and moved to California where he became a cook and took a job at El Rancho Tropicana where he worked for many years. In the late 1980s, Freddy moved back to Oregon to be nearer his family. Upon his return, Freddy became reacquainted with a childhood classmate, Crystal Stewart, and the two fell in love and were married on April 27, 1992. Crystal’s son was just over two years old and Freddy raised him as if he were his own, and the couple were blessed to have one daughter together. Freddy also learned that he had a teenage son that he had never met and welcomed him to the family as well. Freddy was a very hard worker, at times holding down two jobs to provide for his family. He was the kind of guy that could do or fix anything and would help family or friends with anything they needed. Freddy enjoyed fixing and tinkering with cars, especially his beloved 1972 Chevy pickup. He was the mechanic of the family and everyone brought their cars to him for repairs and maintenance. Family was the most important thing to Freddy. Everything he enjoyed doing in life, he enjoyed doing more with family, and everyone enjoyed being around the jovial Freddy. He was definitely a people person, funny and had a good sense of humor. Freddy loved spending time with his family hunting and fishing and enjoying the outdoors. He had a huge extended family and they all gathered often to visit and share a meal. On September 20, 2020, after a long health battle, Freddy passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his wife and children and so many loved ones. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings George, Jose, Maria, Estefana, and Joe. Freddy will be deeply missed by those he leaves behind including his wife Crystal; children Bryce Clanfield, Kayla Doidge-Vasquez, and David Collins; grandchildren Jada, Willow, Brailyn, Kennedy, Baylee, Jax, Cloe, Kanon, Killian, and Adrianna; siblings Conrado Jr, Lupe, Viola, and Jaranillo; and numerous nieces and nephews and other relatives. The family will celebrate his life privately.
