Maria Maxina Annette Montoya

Longtime valley resident Maria Maxina “Annette” Montoya, 60, passed away on September 20, 2020. She was born on June 24, 1960 in La Jara, Colorado to Leofredo and Carmen (Romero) Armenta. Annette was a long-time para-professional and later Librarian for the Monte Vista School District. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Monte Vista. Annette loved being with her family, especially her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed spending time with her friends and being able to take little getaways. She was a true educator at heart and had a passion for helping kids succeed. Annette is survived by her sons, Joseph (Charmaine) Ruybal, Darren Montoya and Robert Montoya, her grandchildren, Damian (Toni) Salas, Jaylah Ruybal, Alexia Montoya, Alex Montoya, Adrian Montoya and Kyra Marquez, her great grandchildren, Eastyn Salas and Alyah Trujillo, her father Leofredo Armenta as well as her brothers, Jess (Debbie) Armenta, Mike Armenta, Jonathan (Tori) Armenta and Robert (Bernadette) Armenta and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family. She was preceded in death by her mother and her brother Leito Armenta. Cremation was chosen and a Memorial Mass with Rosary will begin at 10:30 am on Friday September 25, 2020. Between the Rosary and the Mass will be the Baptism and First Communion for her grandchild. Services will be held at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Conejos, Colorado with interment of ashes taking place following the service at the Los Cerritos Cemetery in Manassa.
