Glenn Orrin Hayward Obituary

Glenn Orrin Hayward, precious child of God, went home to Heaven Monday, September 21, 2020, exactly one month shy of his 92nd birthday.

Glenn was born October 21, 1928 to Mack and Geneva (Burr) Hayward, He was baptized and began a life-long walk with his Lord. Attending elementary school at Pine Ridge Country School, he learned to read and write and made life-long friends. He graduated from Humboldt High School in 1946 and went on to study agriculture at the University of Nebraska, with the aim of being a teacher. While in college, he met and fell in love with Dalphynie June Koskan, but didn't win her heart until after they graduated and he was called to serve in the Marines. They married on July 20, 1952, and moved to Holbrook, NE, where he taught Agriculture and she taught Home Economics.

They moved back to Humboldt in 1953, so Glenn could help his dad farm. In 1955, they moved to his grandfather Burr's farm 4 miles east of Humboldt, where they raised four children.

In addition to farming, Glenn donned various hats over the years. He worked at Home State Bank and Trust and for the County Assessor's office. He was a member of the Lutheran Layman's League, the American Legion, and The Richardson County Ag Society, and served on numerous boards for church, school, and community. He was honored with his 65th anniversary pin from the Richardson County Ag Society at the 2020 Richardson County Free Fair two days before his death.

Glenn was a faithful member of Faith Lutheran Church in Humboldt for over sixty-five years. He lived his life as an example for his children and those around him. He worked hard, loved openly, laughed generously, and lived with integrity.

He leaves behind the love of his life June, a brother Dale (Janis), brother-in-law and sister-in-law James and Treslyn Koskan, sons Jerry (Susan) and Dennis (Kathy), daughters Glennda (David) Hedlund and Lorrie (Mark) Novak, adopted daughter Tami (Norman) Stoehr-Kreps, grandchildren Meredith (Adam) Wooderson, Steve (Caitlin) Novak, Christopher Hayward, Michael (Callie) Hedlund, Kate Hedlund, Eric and Rebecca Hayward, Nicholas and Natalie Novak and Kelsie Kreps, great-grandchildren Jack, Finn, and Reece Wooderson, Neal Hedlund, many nephews and nieces and a community of friends.
