Sylvia Irene Goates, 90, of Dover, AR, died Monday, September 21, 2020 at Arkansas Hospice River Valley Home in Russellville, AR.  The daughter of Thomas and Beckie Freeman Standridge, she was born September 1, 1930 in Ben Hur, AR. She was a Line worker with ConAgra (22 years).  Her greatest accomplishments included being a devoted wife and loving grandmother and great grandmother. She was a member of the Falling Water Full Gospel Church where she was a member of the Falling Water Women's Group.  She enjoyed working with her church in the kitchen during campmeeting and after services.  She was preceded in death by her husband Boyce Eugene Goates, her parents; two sons, Thomas and Terry Goates; two great granddaughters, Becca Goates and Creasie Stone; two brothers, Ira and Charles Standridge and two sisters, Anna Jane Gunter and LaVonna Jones.

She is survived by a son, Tim Goates of Dover, a daughter, Beverly Smith (Roy) of Dover. Nine grandchildren: Tammy Sumners (Steve), DeWayne Goates (JoAnn), Benny Goates, Alice Crow (Danny), Lucretia Palmer, Jessica Curtis (T.J.), Brandon Goates (Katie), Brandy Goates, and Paige Goates. Ten great grandchildren: Seth Sumners (Katie), Boone Sumners, Jordan Hern (Britteny), Austin Goates, Tony Goates, Alyssa Talkington, Erin Stone, Maddy Stone, Jade Curtis, and Dalton Talkington. Eleven great great grandchildren: Kendall Featherston, Sarahphina Featherston, Maverick Sumners, Bear Sumners, Ella Sumners, Parker Goates, Emersyn George, Michael Sumners, Knoxley Hern, Sadie Hern, and Cord Goates. A daughter in law Joyce Goates and two sisters in law, Lorene and Louise Standridge.

The family appreciates her personal caregivers while at home. And a special “Thank You” to Steve and Tammy Sumners for their faithfulness.

Funeral Service will be September 24, 2020 at Goates Cemetery.  Rev. Leonard Chisum and Rev. Sam Niemann will officiate. Burial will be at Goates Cemetery in Scottsville, AR by Humphrey Funeral Service.
