REPUBLIC TOWNSHIP, MI – Allan Luke Royce, age 63, of Republic Township, passed away Sunday, September 20, 2020, at his home.
Born January 25, 1957, in Chicago, Illinois, a son of Luke G. and Estelle R. (Perry) Royce, Al was raised in Illinois until the family moved to Republic in 1972. He was a 1975 graduate of Republic-Michigamme High School. Throughout the years, Al had a varied history of employments in a variety of locations. He moved to Waukegan, Illinois for a time, working at the Anchor Hocking Glass Factory. Later, he moved back to Republic where he operated his own logging company before relocating to Wisconsin where he worked in the construction industry as a roofer and sider. He made another move to Iowa, working on the Diamond Joe Casino Boat as a craps dealer and on the 21 tables. A year ago, Al retired to Republic. Al was a fan of all sports and enjoyed watching college and high school games. He was an especially devoted Minnesota Vikings and Chicago Cubs fan. In his spare time, he also enjoyed fishing.
Al is survived by his son, Craig Royce of Spring Green, WI; a sister, Wanda (Stephen) Kratowhil of Yuma, AZ; brothers, David (Lisa) Royce and Daniel (Jean Vance) Royce both of Republic; nephews, Joseph Royce and Stephen James Kratowhil; and special friend, Brenda Levi of Republic. Al was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Diane (Olander) Royce.
No public services will be scheduled.
