Robert Douglas "Doug" Loyd

Robert Douglas “Doug” Loyd, age 52, died Sunday, September 20, 2020. He was born January 28, 1968 at Reese Air Force Base in Lubbock, TX to Clarence and Hildreth (Rogers) Loyd. He was a graduate of Bixby High School and later earned his bachelor’s degree from Southern Nazarene University. He married the love of his life Katherine “Kathy” (Taylor) on December 1, 1990. Doug worked as an account’s manager for Oerlikon Metco. He proudly served as the President of the Nightriders Booster Club for Mustang High School for 2 years. Doug was an avid OU fan and enjoyed traveling and riding motorcycles, but his true love was watching and supporting his kids and grandkids in their endeavors. He was preceded in death by his father and two brothers in law; Roger Voss and Howard “Mac” McCandless. Doug is survived by his wife, Kathy, two daughters; Meghan McCarther and husband Bryan and Summer Loyd, two grandchildren; Daxon and Stella, his mother Hildreth, brother Rodney Loyd and wife Peggy, two sisters; Melinda Voss, and Sherri McCandless and husband Richard Eubanks as well as many nieces, nephews and dear friends. In lieu of flowers the family has asked that donations be made to the scholarship fund for the Mustang High School Band or to the American Cancer Society. A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00pm Thursday, September 24, 2020 at The Bridge Church, Mustang, OK with interment to follow at the Mustang Cemetery, Mustang, Oklahoma.
