Elenora Hanchar Obituary

Elenora Elizabeth Hanchar (née Schmidt) passed away peacefully on Sept 20, 2020 at her residence in Mont St Joseph Home, Prince Albert, Sask. She was 93 years and 82 days of age. She was born on the family farm in the Landestreu district, Sask. on June 30, 1927 to Adam and Carolina Schmidt.

She is survived by her husband of 72 years and 11 months. She is also survived by one of her children, Rene (Robyn) Hanchar of Prince Albert.

Elenora is predeceased by her daughter Rhonda Lee Hanchar and sisters Erna, Wilma, and Clara. She is survived by sisters Natalie (Langenburg), Marcella (MacNutt), Rita (Lestock) and brother Arthur (Langenburg)

Elenora went to Landestreu rural school and worked on the farm until she met John, who had taken a teaching   position nearby, they were married on Oct 12, 1947 and immediately moved to Pebble Lake for 6 months, they then moved to Peesane in Dec of 1947 and lived there for 1 1/2 years. They then moved to Gartmore in July 1948 for 6 years. They then moved to MacNutt in July 1955 where she spent the majority of her years until they moved to Prince Albert in July of 2004

She always was heavily involved in her church; she was a Ladies Aid member and rarely ever missed a church    service. She also helped out in the community, was a MacNutt service club member and was a member of the Sunset club.

Her yard and garden were always a high priority and she loved her flowers. Later in her life, Elenora learned to  enjoy fishing and camping.
