Born on October 7, 1958 in Clovis, Ca. Lester Garcia, 61, entered into rest on September 19, 2020 in Manteca, Ca. Lester is survived by his loving family; wife of 43 years Barbara, children, Devany Dee (Kris), Lisa Carpenter (Jake) and Michael Garcia (Katie). He was blessed by 8 grandchildren, Taylor Dee, Gavin Dee, Ashtyn Dee, Cameron Carpenter, Hazel Carpenter, Mikayla Garcia, Audrey Garcia and Logan Garcia. In addition, Les is survived by his two siblings, brother Manuel Herrera and sister Tami Herrera. 

Les was a resident of Manteca for over fifty years. He started his Law Enforcement career with the Tracy Police Department in 1981, becoming the first K-9 officer for the department, Les retired as a Sergeant in 2000. After retirement Les then worked for the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Department as a Public Information Officer, retiring in 2017. Les loved his community and had a passion for serving others. He was a well-respected man who continually gave back to his community; whether it was buying shoes for the less fortunate children or volunteering his time helping others. Although Les’ passion was with his community his heart and loyalty was always with his family; his wife Barbara was his best friend and soul mate and his children and grandchildren made him the most proud; he loved each of them unconditionally. 

Les enjoyed spending time with his family, socializing with his gym friends and collecting cowboy boots where his collection was extensive and to say the least quite impressive.

Les will be remembered for his love for God, family and  community. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

P.L. Fry and Son is honored to be serving the Garcia family. An outdoor memorial service will be held on Monday, September 28, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. in the parking lot of P.L. Fry & Son Chapel 290 N. Union Rd. Manteca, Ca.

Parking will be limited at P.L. Fry and Son. Additional street parking will be available on Eucalyptus St. and Magnolia Ave. and surrounding areas.
