David Arthur Hewkin Obituary

David Arthur Hewkin, age 81 years, 8 months and 17 days, of Davisville, Missouri passed away Sunday, September 20, 2020 at Cuba Manor. He was born January 3, 1939 in St. Louis, MO to Arthur and Della, nee Green, Hewkin.

He was united in marriage to Lenora Fern Sullivan on April 16, 1960 and to this union two children, a boy and a girl were born.  David later married Ruth Marshall on December 13, 1991 in St. Charles, MO bringing another girl into their family and to this union a son was born. Their family was complete with two girls and two boys.

David graduated from Cherryville High School. After high school he became employed at Boeing in St. Louis in the electrical engineering department retiring in 1999 after forty-one years. He attended Evangelical Holiness Pentecostal Church in Cuba for several years.

In earlier years, David loved to take his children camping and anywhere there was water he enjoyed swimming and playing. He also enjoyed camping and traveling.

After moving back to the farm from St. Louis in 2002, he put all of his heart into his farm. David enjoyed raising cattle, which was not an easy job, but loved the land, planting trees, gardening, using his tractor and hunting. He also loved animals, especially dogs. He loved to joke with everyone and always had a kind heart. Most of all, he loved his family and all of the times he could spend with them.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Della Hewkin; one brother, Clinton Hewkin; and sister, Doris (J.W.) Morton.

He will be missed by his wife, of almost 29 years, Ruth Hewkin of Davisville, MO; three children, Mitch (Debra) Hewkin of Steelville, MO, Michele Heberer of Washington, MO and Kevin (Kayla) Hewkin of  Davisville, MO; step-daughter, Kimberly (Tom) Knaust of O’Fallon, IL; five grandchildren, Johnnie Heberer, Ethan Heberer, Della Hewkin, Adalynn Hewkin and Emerson Hewkin; two step-grandchildren, Jacob Knaust and Katelyn Knaust; sister-in-law, Ruby Hewkin of Overland, MO; other relatives; and friends.

The Family received friends from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, September 25, 2020 at the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville, Missouri.

Funeral services were held at 12:00 noon on Saturday, September 26, 2020 with Pastor Don Mitchell officiating. Special memories were shared by Michele Heberer and Johnnie Heberer. Music of "What a day that will be", "Amazing Grace" and "Go Rest High" was sung by Bob and Carol Coleman.

Committal prayer and interment were in the Turnbough Cemetery, Davisville, MO.

Honored to be casket bearers were Mitchell Hewkin, Johnnie Heberer, Stanley Eaton, Kevin Hewkin, Sean Bonner and Joe Green.

The Hewkin Family was served by the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville, MO.
