Charlene Pruitt Swan Obituary

Charlene Pruitt Swan, 73, of Fountain Hill, went to her heavenly home on Monday, September 21, 2020, surrounded by her loving family.  Mrs. Swan was born on August 1, 1947, in Hamburg.  She was a member of the Hamburg United Pentecostal Church and taught Sunday school at the Hamburg and Crossett United Pentecostal Church for many years.  Her prayer and greatest desire was to see all of her children and grandchildren full of the Holy Ghost and Baptized in the name of Jesus, just like the bible says.  She now passes her mantle to the next generation.  She loved Jesus above all.  She loved witnessing about the Lord to everyone she met.  She was a light to many in their darkest times and an anchor to her family.  Lovingly known as “Beaner”, her family adored her.  She left a legacy to her family by being a Godly example and a true example of a virtuous woman, as described in the bible.  She enjoyed working in her yard and flower beds, fishing, camping, watching birds from the window, shopping and her women’s trips, especially to Branson, Missouri. She loved spending time with her husband and family.

She is preceded in death by her husbands, James Alton Sowyers in 1982, Paul D. “Spider” Webb in 2010; a son, Travis Sowyers in 2018; her parents, William and Ethel Streeter Pruitt, a brother, Eugene Pruitt and the father of her girls, Ronald Hickman.

She is survived by her husband, Phillip Swan of Fountain Hill; two daughters, Pam Keely and husband, Stan, of Fountain Hill and Penny Whitaker and husband, Lee, of Greenville, Mississippi; a step-son, Paul Webb of Florida; three step-daughters, Karen White and husband, Dale, of Crystal Springs, Mississippi, Penny Bugbee of Michigan and Kathy Webb of Florida; a brother, Harold Pruitt and wife, Delores, of Crossett; a sister, Annie Fitch of Fountain Hill; 27 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren with one on the way, 13 great-great-grandchildren, with one on the way, and a host of nieces and nephews.

Graveside services are 2 p.m., Friday, September 25, 2020 in the Hamburg Cemetery with Bro. Randy Russell and Bro. Stan Keely officiating.  Honorary pallbearers are her grandsons and great-grandsons, Chance Ray, Wayne Keely, Justin Leslie, James Sowyers, Joey Sowyers, William Sowyers, Nathanial Sowyers, Tino Garcia, Brandon Fitch Stetson Garcia, Jerek Garcia, Isaiah Garcia and Ethan Tolbert.
