John Ruzycki Obituary

The family of John Ruzycki of Yorkton, formerly of the Swan Plain & Norquay district, loving husband of Teresa Ruzycki sadly announce his passing on Saturday, September 19, 2020. A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, September 25 at 11:00a.m. from Yorkton Memorial Gardens Family Centre with a private interment to follow. A time of fellowship with family will follow the interment at Yorkton Memorial Gardens Family Centre. Memorials in memory of John may be made to Paws & Claws Rescue Box 1047 Yorkton, SK S3N 2X3 John (Johnny to his family and friends) was born in Swan Plain, SK. He grew up on his parent’s farm with his three sisters and was active in helping on the farm at an early age. He attended Big Horn School but found that life called him back to the farm. After many years as a farmer, his parents retired and sold the farm and relocated to Norquay in 1974. John later went west and worked in Fort McMurray on the oil sands which he enjoyed! He told stories of his time there with a great spirit of excitement! In 1980, John met Teresa who had come to Norquay to teach school from the East Coast. In July 1981 they were married. The following year they welcomed their little girl Charlotte. John worked briefly with Coca Cola then in 1985 he started a 15year employment with Logan Stevens. In 2000 he left the company and worked briefly with Leons and Maki. John kept busy after he retired. He loved to “tinker” and you could find him in the garage fixing a chainsaw or mower, you name it, he could fix it! John was a talented mechanic and had his regular customers dropping by year round. Teresa would often find a carburetor soaking when she came into the kitchen area! He put everything to good use. On Saturday evenings you could find him listening to GX94 radio to the old time country show or watching the Grand Ole Opry on tv with Napoleon by his side. John had a sweet love for his little pup. They were together always. In the garage, or outside, or watching the news on tv in their rocking chair! He loved his family. In 2007 he watched his daughter Charlotte marry Joey Sharkey and was always there if they ever needed anything. In 2010 he became a “Grampie” to little Ethan. Everyone who knew John loved him. When he became ill and Teresa was unable to take care of him at home, he went into long term care and oh how the staff loved Johnny! He was as kind and sweet while he was so ill, as he had been all of his life. With his family by his side, Johnny’s soul, his spirit was taken by Jesus in the evening hours of the 19th. He is survived by his wife, daughter and son-in-law and grandson, two sisters and a brother in law, plus numerous second and third generation family. “Go rest high on that mountain Son your work on earth is done.” Until we see you again, how we love you Johnny, Dad!
