Corine Rodgers Obituary

Hazel Corine (Havens) Rodgers, daughter of the late Everett and Florence (Emery) Havens, was born October 18, 1929, in Mountain Home, Arkansas, and passed away September 20, 2020, in Vanzant, Missouri, with her family by her side. She was 90 years, 11 months, and 2 days of age. Corine grew up in the Vanzant area, and attended Willow Springs Country School through the eighth grade. She was saved when she was 13 years old during a revival, preached by Clarence Ussery, at Willow Springs #2 Free Will Baptist Church. Corine married Amos Rodgers February 4, 1948, in Mountain Home, Arkansas, and four children were born to this union: Melvin, Jim, Beverly, and Mike. In 1957, she went to work as a seamstress for Rawlings Sporting Goods in Willow Springs, Missouri, and later in Ava, Missouri. After she retired from Rawlings in 1991, she enjoyed cooking at Plummer’s Junction. She and Amos always worked together on their dairy farm and they also raised hogs. Corine loved working in her garden and she took great pride in it. She also enjoyed quilting, canning, and attending singings. She loved cooking for her family, and she has hosted countless Sunday dinners and holiday meals throughout the years. Corine enjoyed working throughout her life, and was a wonderful example of a tough, hard-working, frugal woman. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Amos Rodgers, one grandson, Keith Collins, three sisters, June Wake, Madine Sparks, and Mary Luckey, one brother, Lyle Havens, and infant twin sisters, Ruth and Ruby. Corine is survived by three sons, Melvin Rodgers and his wife, Linda, of Willow Springs, Missouri, Jim Rodgers and his wife, Beverly, of Vanzant, Missouri, and Mike Rodgers of Vanzant, Missouri, one daughter, Beverly Collins of Vanzant, Missouri, nine grandchildren, David Rodgers, Kevin Collins, Jimmy Rodgers, Kim Collins, Jackie Rudolph, Billy Rodgers, Heath Rodgers, Brett Rodgers, and Kaleb Rodgers, eighteen great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, neighbors, and friends who will miss her.
