James Edward Herrington

Funeral services for James Edward Herrington will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 22, 2020 at Burr Ferry Pentecostal Church with Reverends Louis Robertson, Eddie Tilley, and Larry Sales officiating. The funeral service will be livestreamed through the Burr Ferry Pentecostal Church Facebook page. The link is https://www.facebook.com/groups/1383014518648847/?ref=share. Burial will follow in Burr Ferry Cemetery under the direction of Jeane’s Funeral Service. A visitation will be held at the church on Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service. James was born June 30, 1949 in Millport, Alabama and passed away on September 20, 2020 in Burr Ferry, Louisiana at the age of 71. He was the pastor of Burr Ferry Pentecostal Church for about 37 years. The church was relocated and built in its current location under his leadership. He also pastored Evans Pentecostal Church for 3 ½ years. James enjoyed hunting and passed this on to his family. When they were running dogs, his nickname was “Hawkeye”. He was a spiritual leader to so many, and he will be greatly missed. James was preceded in death by his parents, James Arthur Herrington and Hazel Lea Campbell Herrington and brother, Robert Herrington. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 51 years, Evelyn Wead Herrington of Burr Ferry, LA, son, Roger Herrington and wife Kim of Evans, LA, daughter, Robbie Herrington Claus and husband Keith of Granbury, TX, brothers, Billy Herrington and wife Sherry and Roy Herrington all of Newton, TX, sisters, Rose Adams and husband Thurman of Seaford, DE; Helen Clark and husband Andy of Lumberton, TX; and Mary Jeane and husband Tim of Burkeville, TX, grandchildren, Landy Herrington and wife Savannah; Blake Herrington and wife Kaylee; Brandon Ray; Magen Ray; and K.J. Claus, great grandchildren, Jane and Cactus Herrington; Adalynn Ray; Emmarie Tidwell; Ayden Ray; Colson Ray; and one on the way, and a host of extended family and friends. Pallbearers will be Blake Herrington, Landy Herrington, Brandon Ray, Richard Wead, William “Bill” Mitcham, and Stephen Walker. Honorary pallbearers will be Johnny Smith, Roger Jordan, Billy Herrington, and Roy Herrington.
