Nat Angelo Gozzano, Jr. Obituary

Nat Gozzano Jr, of Palm Springs passed away peacefully on September 17, 2020. He was also known as Nat Reed, artist & founder of the art gallery “The Art of Nat Reed”. Nat’s giclee prints and canvases of Mid-Century Modern Architecture, whimsical characters with tiki heads, and playful spins on iconic images of the Atomic Age have been delighting his friends and collectors for years. Nat is survived by his loving husband, Eli Cortez; three sisters, Cala Carter (& Mark Rivard), Merry Colbert, Amy Ebbert (& Bob Ebbert) nieces & nephews, Jennifer Arnett, Sean Colbert, Amanda Colbert, Troy Ebbert, Heather Christiansen. Nat was born in 1961 to Nat & Marilyn Gozzano, of Huntington Beach, CA. Nat’s father was a commercial artist and entrepreneur. Nat’s mother was the author of “How Daddy Became a Beachcomber” that told the story of their Hedley family in the 1940’s. They lovingly built the home they called “The Cove” with found items from the sea on their beautiful stretch of beach in San Pedro, CA. Nat’s Grandfather was Eli Hedley, a noted Tropical Decorator in Southern CA and owner of Island Trade Store, in the original Disneyland and Midway City, CA. Nat’s cousin, Ben Bassham, carries on the family tradition of tropical decorating as Bamboo Ben, Tiki Modern. A small remembrance of Nat will be held at The Cove soon, for immediate family members. And a Celebration of Nat Reed’s Art & his Life will be held at his Gallery in Spring of 2021. Nat’s many friends and family cherish his memory as one of the most caring, talented, artistic, well read, adventuresome and happy people you could ever know.
