Mary E. Patterson Obituary

Mary E. Patterson, 88, of Meadville died Friday, September 18, 2020 at Meadville Medical Center.

She was born October 28, 1931, in Meadville, a daughter of Merle Graff and Mary Elizabeth (Sewell) Graff.  She was a 1950 graduate of Linesville High School.  She married Joseph Patterson on July 18, 1953, in Meadville, who she met while working at Murphy's Five and Dime.  He preceded her in death May 12, 2009.

Right before her passing she said “I love you” repeatedly to every family member, even if by telephone.  She was a member of the Stone United Methodist Church and enjoyed the activities at Active Aging, including playing bingo and the bus trips they would organize.  Along with her husband, Joe, they were members of the Tapping Tootsies.  She enjoyed her trips to Maine visiting her daughter, Sharron and grandchildren.  She enjoyed local outings with her daughter, Brenda which included going to local fairs, shopping and recently Hank's Frozen Custard at the end of the season.  She also enjoyed visits to Chautauqua every summer and her crossword puzzles.  In her younger years, she knitted and made home-made bread.

Survivors include two daughters, Sharron Raczynski and her husband, Paul, of Auburn, Maine, and Brenda Patterson of Meadville; a grandson, Mark Raczynski and his wife, Cynthia, of Stanton, California; a granddaughter, Rachel Raczynski, of Auburn, Maine; nieces, nephews, cousins and her childhood friend, Keith Butterfield McGuire of Linesville.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Eva Regan, Flavia Cammarata, Merle Graff Jr., Myrtle Parker and Julia House.

The family expresses their gratitude for the medical care she received in a compassionate manner in the Emergency Room, from the ICU staff and from Dr. Lamba of Meadville Medical Center.

Due to the Covid-19 virus private graveside services will be held at Greendale Cemetery with Rev. Sarah Roncolato, Pastor of Stone United Methodist Church, officiating.
