Viriato DePina, 87, passed away in Cabo Verde on September 15, 2020. Mr. DePina worked as a Merchant Marine before coming to America and retired from Brown University about 20 years ago. He leaves his devoted wife of 37 years, Maria L. Pina. He was the brother of late Ivo DePina, late Antero DePina, late Ildo Depina, late Paulina DePina, late Jose DePina, Rosa DePina, Beatriz DePina, Lala DePina, Custodio DePina and Vely DePina. He was the father and Step-father to Jose Roque (Claudina) Leite, Ana Paula (Fuad) Akbar, Pedro Cesar Leite, late Manuel Dias and Elisa DePina. He was the grandfather to Jennifer DaRosa, Jose Roque Jr Leite, Dealcelina Pina, Ismenia Benoliel, Luis Fontes, Daiana DePina and Ania Varela. He also was the great grandfather to Aymar Fonseca, William De Barros and Denzel DePina. He also left many nieces and nephews here and in Cabo Verde. He was buried in Sao Vicente, Cabo Verde on September 16, 2020.
