Harlan R. "Sonny" George

Mr. Harlan R. “Sonny” George, 78, of Quincy, PA, passed away, Saturday morning, September 19, 2020 in the Chambersburg Hospital. Born June 5, 1942 in Quincy, PA, he was the son of the late Melvin G. and Gladys I. (Mentzer) George. Mr. George served with the United States Navy from 1959 until 1963. He served aboard the U.S.S. Charles Sperry and was stationed in Italy during part of his service. He and his wife of over 59 years, Betty M. (Hess) George, were married on September 16, 1961. Mr. George worked at Teledyne Landis Machine Company, Waynesboro, for over 42 years. He retired in 2004. He was a member of Grace Baptist Church, Waynesboro, and enjoyed running and traveling. In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, Robert E. George and his wife, Lori of Zullinger, PA; three grandchildren, Leah George, Erin Cole and Daniel George; one great-granddaughter, Lillian Thomas; one sister, Darlene Gladhill of Waynesboro; and several nieces and nephews.
