Mary Brunson of Hillsboro passed away Saturday, September 19, 2020, surrounded by family and friends. Mary was born April 15, 1943 in Waco, Texas. Momma or Memaw to many, Mary loved the Lord, her church and her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Her grandchildren meant the world to her. She never met a stranger and she was known as the (Queen of Canasta). Mary was also known for her chicken and dumplings, biscuits and gravy (from scratch) and cabbage and butter beans. She had a heart for all people. She was a great conversationalist, Mary loved fried chicken, boiled peanuts and Big Red. She also was one of the best Peanut Brittle candy sellers. She loved doing work for the lord and was known to enjoy the rides at Six Flags and Disney World well into her 70’s. She was preceded in death by her Parents Woody and Minnie Harper. Sisters Louise, Laura and Barbara. Her beloved husband, Gerald (Bo) Brunson, daughter Mary Lisa Brunson Garcia, and Granddaughter Jessica Brunson. Survivors include Tressa and Doug Brisbane of Augusta Georgia, Jerry and Rhonda Brunson of Hillsboro Texas, Joyce and Larry Simcox of Killeen Texas, Jody and Lisa Brunson of Melissa Texas, and Melissa and Anthony Allegood of Hillsboro Texas. And over thirty grandchildren and many great grandchildren . Visitation will be held Thursday, September 24, 2020 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at Cornerstone Funeral Home in Hillsboro, Texas. Service will take place on Friday, September 25, 2020 at 4:00 pm at Cornerstone Funeral Home, Hillsboro, Texas with burial to follow at Scott Chapel in Aquilla, Texas. Arrangements are being handled by Cornerstone Funeral Home in Hillsboro, Texas.
