Maria L. Diaz, a Manitowoc resident, passed away on Thursday, September 17, 2020 at Aurora Sheboygan Memorial Medical Center. Maria was born on June 20, 1953 in Honduras, daughter of Cecilia Portillo and the late Miguel Mateo. She worked as a CNA for 15 years in Miami, FL. Survivors include her three children: Karla Lorena Amaya (Juan Rodriguez), Luis E. Amaya (Rosibel), Covalsky Cruz; nine grandchildren: Rose Marie Amaya, Cecilia Amaya, Brianna Cruz, Abigail Cruz, Elizabeth Rodriguez, Juan Carlos Rodrigues, Jeyson Rodriguez, Kevin Rodriguez, Mario Luis Cruz; one great granddaughter: Donna Rodriguez; five sisters: Maria de Jesus Mateo, Maria Modesta Mateo, Eliodora Mateo, Amelida Mateo, Maria Jesus Mateo; and one brother: Mercedes Mateo. She was preceded to death by her father; and three children: Fernando Antonio Mateo, Fausto Edmundo Mateo and Jamilya Miroslava Cruz. Funeral Services will be held at 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, September 22, 2020 at the Pfeffer Funeral Home (928 S. 14th Street), Manitowoc. Officiating at the service will be Sr. Marlita Henseler.
