Florence Mae Fraser Obituary

It is with great sadness we the family announce that our mother and grandmother Florence Fraser, passed away on September 18, 2020. Born on May 7, 1931 in North Sydney, she was the daughter of the late Angus and Elizabeth (MacDougall) MacInnis. In her earlier years Florence retired from the former Woolco store, was an active member of the New Waterford CWL , and was a Eucharistic Minister. She was a life member of Branch 128 Whitney Pier Legion and a former member of the New Waterford Ladies Auxilliary as well as the Ladies Auxilliary of the C.B. Regional Hospital. Her faith was a large part of her life, as were her friends Elsie Furlong and Helen Dwyer. Mom was always there for her family and could always be found helping in the kitchen. Many happy times were spent with all of us and she was proud of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is survived by daughters, Mary Phillips, Betty (Greg) Hill, Donna; sons Jim ‘Quill’ (Collen), Michael (Mary); 13 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild as well as many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Florence was also predeceased by her husband Jim Fraser, son John Blair, daughters Rose Marie Fraser and Diane Delaney; brother Angie, sister Lucy Reid; grandchildren Donnie Fraser, Kendall and Keith Hill, sons-in-law Harry, Pat and Blair McKinnon and daughter -in-law Frances. Private visitation will be held Sunday, September 20th from 5-9 pm and a private family funeral mass on Monday, September 21st in the Parish of Saint Leonard with Fr. Ray Huntley officiating. Burial in St. Agnes Cemetery. The family wishes to thank Dr. Hag and the nurses of Level 2 at the New Waterford Consolidated Hospital for the care they have given to our mom. Family flowers only.
