They were blessed with two daughters, Danette and Danelle. Following high school Dan worked in road construction before enlisting in the United States Navy. He served his country honorably from 1955 to 1959 during the Korean War. He then worked at Gibbs Cook in Des Moines and Fort Dodge. He supported 4-H, and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, and attending many of their activities. When the girls were still living at home you could find Danny attending horse shows often helping as a gate man or ring-man on summer weekends. Dan was a devoted, primary caregiver of his wife, Dixie until her passing in January of 2012.
