David Richard Lepson Obituary

David Richard Lepson, a resident of Ellicott City, MD and member of the Church of the Resurrection passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, September 15, 2020 at the age of 55 at Howard County General hospital.

Dave is survived by his loving wife, Lynn Gorman Lepson (Brunner), his son Colin, his stepchildren Sean, Brian and Maggie Gorman, his father Richard M. Lepson (Gloria), his sister Beth Lepson Norton (Kevin), his father-in-law Edward Brunner, his brothers-in-law Gregory Brunner (Jennifer), Matthew Brunner (Angela) and Michael Brunner (Michele).  He is also survived by his Aunt Mary Jean Parrott (George), Uncles Michael Murray (Mary Clare), Thomas Lepson (Bonnie) and Ronald Lepson (Bobbie) and numerous nieces and nephews that he adored.  He was pre-deceased by his mother Nancy Elizabeth Lepson, his mother-in-law Peggy Spioch Brunner and his grandparents Gertrude Lade Murray and Thomas Miles Murray and Milton R. Lepson and Hilda V. Lepson.

Dave was born in Baltimore on July 29, 1965 at Saint Agnes Hospital. Dave had strong roots in the Catonsville community.  Growing up he could often be found at Rollingwood Pool, the courts on Devere Lane or in the neighborhood around Gralan Road.  He graduated from Mt. St. Joseph in 1983 and maintained lifelong friendships with his classmates. He graduated from the University of Baltimore with a degree in Liberal Arts. He worked in the restaurant business for many years where he learned to cook, mix a great cocktail and entertain with an enlightened spirit.

On April 2, 2005 he married the love of his life Lynn, a CPA,and became a devoted and loving stepfather to her three children; Sean, Brian, and Maggie. On December 9, 2010 Lynn and Dave welcomed their beautiful son Colin into this world who was a very important part of their life and completed their family.

Dave loved his family and friends.  He had a broad circle of friends who describe him as someone who loved life, was a good man and had a gentle soul.  He loved to host holiday celebrations with the family and was always entertaining friends.  His favorite party to host was his annual St. Patrick’s Day party.  Dave was always such a gracious host and made everyone feel like they were at home.  He was such a wonderful cook and was often found behind the grill or in the kitchen at his parties.  He loved spending time at the beach, at the kids’ sporting events and with his wife and family around the fire.  Dave loved all kinds of music and fast cars, as was evident with his “mid-life” purchase of a red Mustang convertible.  He played the guitar, always had a good joke and had a special knack for technology which led to his career in life with New Enterprise Associates.

Dave had a very strong faith and was an active member of the Church of the Resurrection, the Knights of Columbus and the Ancient Order of Hibernians.

He will be deeply missed by his family, friends and all who knew him.

A visitation will be held at Candle Light, in Catonsville, on Sunday, September 20, from 2-4pm. The visitation is outdoors and there is also a stay-in-the-car option.  A funeral Mass will be held on Monday, September 21 at 11am at the Church of the Resurrection.  All COVID safety precautions will be in place.

In lieu of flowers the family is setting up a college fund for Dave and Lynn’s 9 year old son Colin.  Contributions can be made payable to Maryland College Investment Plan, FBO Colin M. Lepson.
