Frances C. GIbbs Obituary

Frances Calimai Gibbs age 88, of Conyers, Georgia, formally of Hartwell, Georgia enter her eternal rest September 16, 2020. Frances was born on August 26, 1932 to the late John B and Dollie Mae Brown in Hartwell, Georgia. She was the second of four children.  Frances was preceded in death by her late sister Alma Gene Sifford, and brother George Brown. She also leaves two sisters to cherish her memory, Glendora (Babe) Davis and Pam Tate.

Frances moved to New York City in 1953 where she met and married the late Morris Gibbs in 1956. Together they raised Nine children. Frances was driven and passionate about caring for her children, which gave her much joy and pleasure. She was kind, very loving and an easy-going person. She loved attending church with her friends and family. She raised her children in South Jamaica, Queens, a community she loved. Her heart and the doors to her home were always open to family and friends. She was an active parent and served as the PTA president in her children’s schools.

For over 20 years Frances worked at  Creedmoor Hospital in Queens, NY before her retirement. Years after her retirement she moved to Conyers, Georgia with her loving family, including her granddaughter Maisha Feacher and daughter Lavern Wilson. She joined and attended New Birth Baptist church. She was active at Rockdale Senior Center. She also competed in the pageant at Westbury Health and Rehabilitation Center where she won first place and was set to compete for Ms. Georgia Reign for the Seniors in the state of Georgia.

She was preceded in death by her daughter Brenda Lee Moore, and her grandson Frank J. Moore. She leaves 8 children to cherish her memory including Lavern Wilson, Anthony Gibbs, Cecelia Gibbs, Francine and Hakim White, Yvette Gibbs, Donald Ray and Charlene Gibbs, Diane Gibbs and Darryl and Antoinette Gibbs. She also leaves 18 Grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and a great great grandchild on the way and  a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral service will be 2:00 pm Friday, September 25th, 2020 at Mack’s Funeral Home & Cremation Services- Hartwell Chapel, located at 266 Maple St, Hartwell, Georgia.

Interment will be in the Cedar Springs Baptist Church Cemetery, Hartwell, Georgia.
