It has pleased Almighty God, in His wise providence, to summon from the earthly existence to Himself the soul of his Faithful humble servant, ELIZABETH SAVAS KOSTAS. Elizabeth departed her earthly existence on Tuesday, September 15, 2020 peacefully in her sleep in Lake Forest, IL. Born January 1, 1930 in Logan WV as one of three children born to Nicholas and Penelope Savas. Elizabeth was baptized in the Greek Orthodox Church as an infant and in 1956 was received in the Episcopal Church and has remained a faithful and devoted Holy Trinity Episcopal Church member. She was preceded in death by her devoted Husband of 61 years the Rev. George A. Kostas, by her parents, sister Helen Savas Kostas and her brother-in-law Dr. Emanuel Kostas, brother Sam Savas, James Kostas brother-in-law and Irene the beloved wife of James. Elizabeth is survived by her double niece, Karen (Michael) Dolin, great-nieces, Penelope Nicole Dolin, Elizabeth Dolin (Stephen) Klein and son Noah George Klein, her niece, Maria Gardinia, great-nephew, James Francis Gardina, niece, Demetria (Jim) Heatwole, great-niece, Nikita Heatwole, niece, Elizabeth Costas, great niece, Scarlett. May her memory be eternal. In June 1950, Elizabeth’s sister Helen Savas married Emanuel Kostas and George Kostas brother to Emanuel and Elizabeth Savas sister to Helen began seeing one another. Elizabeth and George were married on May 13, 1956, at Holy Trinity Church in Logan. George and Elizabeth Kostas formed an association with Southern WV Community & Technical College very early in the formative years of the College. They were involved in providing a private family gift for the Savas-Kostas Performing Arts Center and have been actively and continually financially supporting the foundation and are currently providing perpetual funding for outstanding Faculty and Staff awards. Elizabeth was an active member of the Logan community and was always interested in clean up and improvement projects. Once Elizabeth returned to Lake Forest, she connected with college friends and her love of gardening. The family has requested no floral tributes. Anyone wishing to honor the memory of Elizabeth Savas Kostas may make a donation in her memory to Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, 604 Stratton St., Logan, WV 25601. Bishop W. Michie Klusmeyer will officiate a private grave site service at Forest Lawn Cemetery. Online condolences may be left at www.jamesfh.com.
