Funeral Service for Orville J. Snider, 88, of Dickinson, ND will be at 1:00 p.m., Monday, September 21, 2020 at Stevenson Funeral Home with Pastor Lisa Lewton officiating. Burial will follow at Dickinson Cemetery. Visitation for Orville will be 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m., Monday, September 21, 2020 at Stevenson Funeral Home. Orville J. Snider was born August 9, 1932 in Belfield, ND, to John and Sophie (Taraba) Snider. He was raised on the family farm northeast of Belfield and attended country school at Vokal #1 and Olienyk #4 and a short time in Belfield. In 1949, Orville moved to Dickinson with his parents and sister. At this time, he was given his first car. He worked part time for George Tweeten building houses, digging graves, and setting surface vaults. Orville loved helping his dad with the farming every year. When he turned twenty one, he moved back to the farm to raise and feed cattle. He enjoyed and loved every aspect of farming. Orville especially enjoyed working with his team of horses, raking and hauling hay. A favorite hobby of Orville’s was riding his Pinto stallion, and later his Palomino gelding. He also enjoyed going to the bars, visiting with his many friends, and dancing. His favorite pastimes were watching old westerns on the TV and listening to old time music. Orville was a lifetime member of the Eagles Club. By the mid 1960’s, Orville and his dad sold the cattle and he moved to town to live with his parents. They would spend the winters in town, and the summers on the farm. Mom would refer to them as “suitcase farmers.” In the mid 1980’s, Orville and his dad decided to quit farming and rented out the farm. Orville will be forever loved and missed by his family. Orville is survived by his sister Dorothy (Wesley) Schuhrke; four nieces, Ardellea and Jade Fleck, Republic, WA, Kimberly and Ted Renner, Belfield, Susan Stenehjem, Gilroy, CA, and Donna and Garry Lagois, Garrison, ND; five grandnephews, Jonathon Torres, Christopher Torres, Jacob Hecker, Trenton and Taylor Stenehjem; four grandnieces, Julie Smethz, Jessica Shirey, Danielle Skyes, and Sahara Olson; five great-grandnephews; and three great-grandnieces. He was preceded in death by his parents; a great-grandnephew; all of his grandparents; and all of his aunts and uncles. Dickinson, North Dakota
