Lillian Guthlein passed away on September 15, 2020. For the last two years she was a resident of Sunnyside Manor in Wall, NJ and was 97 years old. She was born and raised in Elizabeth. Lil married John Guthlein and they lived in Iselin, NJ since 1952. Aunt Lil was employed at Macys Department Store in Menlo Park as a salesperson for over 20 years. She was a communicant of St. Cecelias Church where she was an active member of the Rosary. Lil was also a part of a neighborhood card club where her friends and family would play cards for over 50 years. She would spend summers with family and friends at Springwood Swim Club in Colonia and she loved to travel. She was predeceased by her husband, John; sisters, Madeline McElroy of Iselin and Gertrude Bender of Edison; and her parents, Mary and Jeremiah Riordan. Lillian is survived by her loving nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews and great grand nieces and nephews who love and miss her very much. Lil was a beautiful person, a woman of strong faith and the matriarch of her family. Funeral arrangements are private under the direction of Costello-Runyon Funeral Home, Iselin, NJ.
