Kenneth R. Smith, 96, of Hopkinsville, KY died at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, September 15, 2020 at Christian Health Center. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 18, 2020 at Second Baptist Church with the Rev. David Tucker officiating. Burial will follow in Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West. Visitation will Friday from 9:00 a.m. until the funeral hour. Hughart, Beard & Giles Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. A native of Jamestown, TN he was born November 18, 1923 the son of the late Samuel S. Smith and Martha Terry Smith. He was the former co-owner of Farm & Garden Supply, Ag Supply, Motor Power, Smith’s Home & Garden Supply, and Smith’s Horticultural Supply. He was a WWII United States Navy Veteran. He was a member of Second Baptist Church where he served as a deacon for over 50 years, taught Sunday School for many years, and member of the Adult Choir for over 35 years. He was preceded in death by his wife: Betty Carney Smith; his children: Dale Smith and Alice Smith; his brothers: Elmo Smith and L.A. Smith; and his sister: Gertrude Eversole. Survivors include his son: David (Debbie) Smith of Hopkinsville, KY; his daughter: Carole L. Smith of Murfreesboro, TN; his brother: Cortis Smith of Allardt, TN; his sisters: Joyce Robbins of Dayton, OH and Elsie Cooper of Jamestown, TN; his grandchildren: Aaron David (Jennifer) Smith, Adam Lee (Rachel) Smith, Alex Carney (Bri) Smith, and Elizabeth Ann Smith; his great grandchildren: Lillian Smith, Kamiya Smith, Adleigh Smith, Miles Smith, Audrey Smith, and Kaiden Smith. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Betty Smith Media Library at Second Baptist Church, Gideons International, or the Second Baptist Church Building Fund.
