Freda Mae Gilkerson, 77 of Huntington, WV, passed away Sunday, September 13, 2020 at St. Mary’s Medical Center. She was born July 7, 1943 in Huntington, WV, a daughter of the late Goldie Mae Brooks. Freda was a homemaker that was devoted to caring for her children. In addition to her mother, a daughter, Paula Sue Gilkerson also preceded her in death, along with a sister, Lisa Barton. Survivors include a daughter, Pamela Gilkerson of Huntington, WV; a son, James Edward “Jamie” Gilkerson of Huntington; four sisters, Barbara Ferguson of Huntington, WV, Donna Elkins of Ashland, KY, Linda Stiltner of Huntington, WV, Brenda Clay of Wayne, WV; and her feline companion, “Grizzy” the cat. Graveside services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Friday, September 18, 2020 at Wayne Cemetery. Due to concerns of Covid-19 there will be no visitation. Morris Funeral Home, Wayne, WV is in charge of arrangements.
